Problem:
Certain Dell E6x30 systems, when configured for Windows 8 and UEFI boot do not correctly set UEFI boot order, resulting in a failure to boot to Windows. This usually occurs immediately after initializing a SED, locking following by unlocking a drive. This failure is indicated by successfully authenticating to the drive in preboot, but observing a "bootable device not found" message instead of booting to Windows.
Applies To:
Dell E6x30 systems, UEFI Bios mode, Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and Embassy Security Center Trusted Drive Edition version 2.10.2
Solution:
To resolve, correct the Windows Boot Manager entry in the UEFI boot order table.
- Power up the system, Press F2 while booting to enter the BIOS Setup mode.
- Under Settings -General, Select the Boot Sequence
- Select Add Boot option
- Provide a name for the Boot option
- Add a file name by clicking on the browse button, navigate and select EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BOOTMGFW.EFI and click OK
Click OK on the completed screen for the Add Boot options, then exit.
- Reboot system.
