Problem:

After changing the AD password for the ERASService Account, users will be unable to access ERAS, and will encounter Snapin Errors upon opening the ERAS Console or attempting management on machines.

Solution:

This is caused due to IIS having the incorrect credentials for the ERASService account.  Please use the following instructions to update the ERASService Password in IIS:

If using Internet Information Services 6:

  1. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager on the ERAS Server.
  2. Expand the Local Computer > Application Pools.
  3. Right click on ERAS and select Properties.
  4. Select the Identity Tab. Here you will see the identity configured with the ERASService Account. You will want to update the password here with the new AD password for the ERASService Account and apply the settings.
  5. Restart IIS.

If using Internet Information Services 7:

  1. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager on the ERAS Server.
  2. Expand the Local Computer > Application Pools.
  3. Right click on ERAS and select Advanced Settings.
  4. Under the Process Model section, click on Identity. The ERAS service account identity should be listed here.
  5. Click on the […] button to open the Application Pool Identity window and select ‘Set’ to update the password with the new AD password for the ERASService Account.
  6. Restart IIS.

After restarting IIS, you should be able to access the ERAS Console again.
