Problem: 

After successful authentication to the self-encrypting drive; the computer reboots itself, blue screens or Windows fails to load.

Solution: 

Use of OS CD, WIN-PE or a 3rd party data recovery utility to access the Self-encrypting drive in the event of Windows OS corruption for repair or re-install.

  1. Power up the machine. The Self-encrypting drive Pre-boot screen will prompt for your Authentication credentials.
  2. Enter your credentials to authenticate to the locked drive.
  3. After successful authentication, halt the boot process by pressing F8 several times. (DO NOT RESTART AT THIS POINT)
  4. At this point, the drive is successfully unlocked and the OS partition is now available.
  5. Place the Operating System CD, WIN-PE CD or 3rd party data recovery utility disk in the CD tray and press CTRL+ALT+DEL to RESTART the machine.
  6. The Operating System CD, WIN-PE CD or 3rd party recovery utility disk will now be able to access the drive’s partitions for OS repair, reinstall or data recovery.
